Subject: Recognition of Technical / Professional Qualifications.
I am directed to refer to your letter No.TH/158 dated 19 may, 1978 of the above subject and to state that a pass in Sections A & B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India) is recognised by the Government of India at par with a bachelor's Degree in the appropriate field of Engineering from a recognised Indian University for purpose of recruitment to superior posts and services under the Central Government. This ministry has no objection to your issuing a Certificate to any individual provided it is confined to the statement of facts only as mentioned above.

AMIE is recognized as equivalent to Engineering Degree by the Government of India, State Governments, Union Territories, Union Public Service Commission, State Public Service Commissions. All 'Graduates' of The Institution of Engineers(India) are eligible to get admission to ME / M.Tech, MBA and other higher studies in India or Abroad.

The equivalence of AMIE is approved by Board of Assessment, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, and by The Association of Indian Universities for employment and academic equivalence. In view of this, the approval AICTE is not required. [Click Here]
